Davis holds a good number of rainbow and brown trout as well as a fair population of bass and catfish. Targeted species include smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, walleye, pike and musky. Shaver holds a good population of largemouth & smallmouth bass, catfish, rainbow, brook, and rainbow trout. Available species include smallmouth bass, walleye, northern pike, catfish, some largemouth bass, and the occasional muskie. Lewiston Lake is noted as a big trout lake and also holds a good population of bass, catfish, and bluegill. All catfish including blue catfish, flathead and channel catfish will be looking for their next meal.

Plenty of open water to fish and fishing should be good. The back bay water temperature is beginning to rise, which is making for some good fishing. Most anglers fish open water during the summer and fall, but move closer to shore and fish vegetated areas in the spring. In an area with pretty good cover, if you see one spot where the cover is exceptionally thick, that is almost surely where the better fish will be. With warmer water temperatures in the area lakes, trout fishing will be best in the early mornings. The best fishing occurs in the spring and fall when water temperatures are cool.

Many boat ramps are available at no charge while some charge small launch fees. The boat ramps at the resort and at Klum Landing are open and usable. A comfortable harbor whether you are traveling by boat or car. Still others appear barren, with little visible cover at all.

All boating is permitted at 5 mph restriction with launching facilities and boat rentals available. No swimming will be allowed at any of the pits. No boats will be spooking the fish by floating over the water you are whipping. A maximum of 10 electric powered dinghies are allowed on the water at any one time. As the water comes down, more and more wading spots are opening up, but as always, use caution if you decide to wade. There is usually a clearly defined area or body of water where contestants are allowed to fish.

The Illinois River is open to fishing for trout and steelhead. Unlike the rainbow trout, brown trout are not stocked every year. Fishing may be done on the lake and its streams, which are stocked with brown, brook, and rainbow trout. Fishing is limited to rainbow, brown, and mackinaw trout but usually very rewarding. Anglers can sight-fish for brown trout in small streams on Mt. The Upper Provo has cutthroat, rainbow, brown, and brook trout and offers fast fishing and amazing scenery.

Obtain a after hours fishing permit from the visitors center for night time fishing. Because of the excessive weed growth, mid-day fishing can be productive. Bass fishing continues to get better every day, with larger stripers being caught mostly at night. A day without fishing is like a day without sunshine. As the day moves along thefrozen waterwill thaw, leaving you with nice cool water to drink throughout your fishing day. A few nice spotted sea trout have been caught during the first few hours of the day.
